Envoy Urges Closer Academic Ties between Iran, Germany

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – New German ambassador to Tehran said on Tuesday the relations between the two countries’ universities are at good level, but at the same time asked for further expansion of academic ties between Iran and Germany.

Michael Freiherr von Ungern-Sternberg made the comment during a visit to Qom’s University of Religions and Denominations on Tuesday.

He added that he attaches special attention to the promotion of the academic cooperation between the two states.

“The German universities’ scientific cooperation with universities around the globe is underway in a broad manner, and Iran, and the University of Religions and  Denominations in particular, can provide a special opportunity for this kind of interactions,” he said.

Hojjatoleslam Navab, the chancellor of the university, too, welcomed the German envoy’s proposal for the expansion of academic cooperation with German universities.

He said his university is fully prepared to establish such scientific cooperation since the university has huge potentials for the purpose.
