Palestinian Boy Shot by Israelis Succumbs to Injuries

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A Palestinian youth, who was wounded by the Israeli gunfire in the besieged Gaza Strip, has died of his injuries, medical sources said.

According to Israeli and Palestinian officials, the 16-year-old, identified as Adnan Abu Khater, succumbed to his wounds on Friday a day after Israeli forces shot him in the leg in the Jabalia city, located four kilometers north of Gaza City.

An Israeli military spokeswoman, speaking on condition of anonymity, commented on the Thursday incident, claiming that Israeli troops opened fire on a group of “suspects,” who were damaging the border fence. Abu Khater was also among the group.

Israel has recently intensified its military operations on the besieged Palestinian territory, Press TV reported.

In the early hours of Friday, Israeli warplanes carried out a series of aerial strikes on four targets in the central and northern Gaza Strip, said the regime in a statement. There were no reports of injuries due to the assualt.

The Israeli military frequently targets Palestinians along the border with Gaza, which has remained literally cut off from the outside world by a crippling Israeli blockade since 2007.

On December 29, 2013, two Palestinians were injured after an Israeli tank struck an open area in east of al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza.

The regime also bombs the coastal enclave frequently, claiming the attacks are being conducted for defensive purposes. However, disproportionate force is always used, in violation of international law, and civilians are often killed or injured.
