Ireland-Iran Trade Visit Begins Today
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Traders and Senators will travel to Tehran today for meetings aimed at bolstering trade links between Ireland and Iran.
The delegation from the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade will hold discussions with a number of Iranian Ministers, the Chamber of Commerce and the Head of the Iranian Human Rights Council.
The Minister for Jobs, Richard Bruton, is accompanying the Taoiseach Enda Kenny on the trade mission.
"It is a significant figure for exports to Ireland, (and) there are huge opportunities for agri-business with Iran," said Committee Chairman Pat Breen, Irishexaminer reported.
"They are very anxious to do business with Ireland, and obviously we'll be setting the agenda for future trade visits."
Irish exports to Iran are currently worth almost €52m. So far, 95 jobs have been announced as well as €31m worth of investment through deals between Irish companies and businesses based in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.
