Iranian Lifter Says Will Attend Asian Games Powerfully

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian well-known weightlifter Saeed Mohammadpour confirmed that he is going to participate at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.

Mohammadpour, who was recovering from a minor injury, said that he is fit at the moment and prepares himself for the Asian Games.

“I am training with Hossein Tavakkoli (Iran’s junior coach) and I don’t think I would take part in the domestic league. It is not necessary to put myself under pressure,” Mohammadpour told the Tasnim News Agency.

“I need a rest ahead of the world and Asian games to be fully recovered since Weightlifting is different from football ... we will be less ready with more stage," he said.

As regards his rival, Ilya Ilyin, at the Asian or world competition, Mohammadpour said, "No doubt, I will participate in the Asian Games and I will do my best to beat Ilya Ilyin."

Kazakhstan’s lifter Ilya Ilyin, who claimed a gold medal of the 2012 Olympic Games, will take part in the 2014 IWF World Weightlifting Championships and 2014 Asian Games. Mohammadpour finished in fifth place in the 94kg category at the prestigious event.
