Police Chief Highlights Significance of Iran’s Scientific Independence

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s Police Chief Brigadier General Esmail Ahmadi Moqaddam placed great emphasis on the country’s scientific independence, saying such an upper-hand would guarantee Iran’s independence in other spheres as well, namely security.

“The country’s scientific independence is the cornerstone of our national independence,” the commander said in a ceremony on Tuesday in Tehran, held to unveil a number of indigenous digital systems, including  Tooba two-way digital communication network.

"The way to reach social, economic and security independence passes through scientific independence,” he underlined.

Brigadier General Ahmadi Moqaddam further reiterated that Iran is now in possession of whatever scientific infrastructures it needs to achieve its goals in different fields.

Iranian officials have always attached much significance to scientific growth and independence to obviate the country’s need for any foreign technology.

Earlier on January 18, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called on the whole Iranian students in local or foreign universities to put effort into improving their knowledge and throw their weight behind the country’s progress and the Iranian nation’s prosperity.

In a message to the 48th annual meeting of the union of the Islamic associations of Iranian students in Europe at the time, Ayatollah Khamenei described the Iranian young students all over the world as “valuable plants” that have their roots in Iran.

The Leader also asserted that those Iranians studying abroad, like their peers in the country’s “lively and dynamic” universities, would “make valuable contributions” to the prosperity of their homeland and welfare of the Iranian nation.

Ayatollah Khamenei further called on the young Iranian students to have insatiable thirst for high quality knowledge and pay complete attention to the scientific fields they select.
