Iran World Cup Camp to Begin from April 13

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran will start its pre-tournament camping for the FIFA 2014 World Cup from April 13, an Iranian football official said.

Iran will start its camp in Johannesburg, South Africa from April 13 and it will last 24 days, Mehdi Mohammad Nabi, the general secretary of Iran Football Federation (IFF), said Friday.

“Iran will play three friendly matches with the South African clubs. The team will also play a friendly with a neighbor of South Africa in the camp,” Nabi said.

“The players will return to Iran and stay along with their families for three days. The team will base its 27-day pre-tournament camp in Austria, where the Asian powerhouse is scheduled to play Belarus and Montenegro. Iran will also play Angola on May 31 in Austria,” he added.

Carlos Queiroz’s men will face Trinidad and Tobago in their final preparation for the 2014 World Cup. The match will be played on June 8 in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Iran has been drawn in Group F of the 2014 World Cup along with giant Argentina, Nigeria, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Iran will play Nigeria in Curitiba on June 16.
