5 Killed, 25 Injured in Explosion at Railway Track in S. Pakistan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Five people were killed and more than 25 others were injured when an explosion hit a passenger train in Pakistan's southern Kashmore district on Sunday afternoon, local media reported.

Express TV said that the train, which was on its way to northwest Peshawar city form southern port city of Karachi, was hit by a bomb in Kashmore area, a district located in northern part of the country's south Sindh province.

Asghar Shah, Deputy Superintendent Police, said that four compartments of the train derailed when the bomb exploded at a railway track near Anrawah Railway Station of the district.

Revealing initial investigation reports, he said that the blast was carried out by a remote controlled device and the explosive materials were fixed at the railway track.

An injured passenger at the train told media that there were around 300 people in the compartments that derailed and many people were still trapped inside them.

The injured people have been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, Xinhua reported.

Heavy contingent of police and paramilitary troops reached the blast site and cordoned off the area for investigation.
