Carlos Querioz Refuses to Rule Out South Africa Return

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran National Football Team Coach Carlos Queiroz said he would not rule out returning to the South Africa team after the 2014 World Cup.

Previous reports suggested that Queiroz is a top candidate to replace current South Africa coach Gordon Igesund, whose contract runs out in June.

Queiroz has already worked at the African team from October 2000 to March 2002.

"For the moment, I am concentrating on preparing Iran for the World Cup in Brazil ... and all my focus is there," he told Sowetan on Friday during pre-World Cup workshop held in Florianopolis, Brazil.

"About South Africa again, I'm not sure," Queiroz added.

Former Real Madrid coach was in Cape Town last month to watch Nigeria play in the African Nations Championship.

He also visited Bafana Bafana hotel and also had a meeting with president of South Africa Football Association (SAFA) Danny Jordaan.

Iran has been drawn along with Argentina, Nigeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group F of the 2014 World Cup.

Iran will face Nigeria in Curitiba in its opening encounter on June 16.
