Hezbollah Official Lauds Inauguration of Tasnim Office in Beirut

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The Lebanese Hezbollah Resistance Movement’s second-in-command, Sheikh Naim Qassem, hailed the Iranian Tasnim News Agency for opening an office in Beirut, saying such a move provides a platform for the news agency to become renowned on an international scale.

The Tasnim News Agency of Iran made another major stride in boosting its media activities in the region by inaugurating an office in Lebanon’s capital of Beirut on Wednesday.

Tasnim Managing Director Majid Qolizadeh and his accompanying delegation then held a meeting with Sheikh Naim Qassem following the inauguration ceremony in the morning.

During the meeting, Hezbollah’s high-ranking official congratulated the Tasnim managers on the official opening of the new office in Beirut, and said, “I regard this move (opening of the office) as a good omen. Inauguration of this office is a very important step.”

Sheikh Naim Qassem made it clear that the anti-Israeli resistance front, which now confronts the “global arrogance”, needs to spread “authentic and strong” news through agencies such as ‘Tasnim’, so that the whole world could have an access to such news.

“Nowadays, the global arrogance and the information services have a major role in distorting the truth, and they either overplay the trivial and marginal issues or downplay the great issues in order to distort the reality, and their purpose is to distract the public attention from the main message,” he explained.

The senior Hezbollah figure further added that the Tasnim news agency can very well thwart such plots, provided that it gives authentic and accurate information, which could subsequently turn the Iranian news agency into a “strong media reference” in the region.

“It will then pave the way for the Tasnim News Agency to become international,” Qassem added.

Earlier in the morning, during the opening ceremony of Tasnim office in Beirut, Qolizadeh called on the head of the just-opened office to put efforts into making the Iranian news agency gain the upper-hand in providing “authentic and timely” information.

He placed greater emphasis on Beirut office given the fact that “Lebanon is the most important highway of media communication and the arena of media outlets with different political, cultural and social attitudes in the region.”

Qolizadeh said Lebanon’s strategic position in the Islamic anti-Israeli resistance front further necessitates “rapport and solidarity” among the pro-resistance media in a bid to break the monopoly of imperialistic media.

Tasnim has recently intensified its activities in the region, taking initiative for stronger cultural and media interactions with the regional countries.

Earlier on Monday, the Tasnim News Agency inaugurated its office in Damascus.
