Iranian Parliamentary Delegation Due in Geneva for IPU Assembly

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A delegation from Iran’s parliament will leave for Geneva later this week to participate in the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s (IPU) Assembly.

Headed by Moayyed Hosseini Sadr, an Iranian parliamentarian, the delegation will leave Tehran for the Swiss city on Thursday, March 13, Seyyed Hadi Hosseini, deputy head of the delegation, told the Tasnim News Agency.

Hosseini said he is scheduled to deliver a speech at the international meeting on the role of parliaments in the development of countries.

He added that the eight-strong Iranian parliamentary team will have meetings with officials and members of the participating delegations on the sidelines of the assembly.

The 130th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union is slated to take place in Geneva, from March 16 to 20.  The assembly is the principal statutory body that expresses the views of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on political issues. It brings together parliamentarians to study international problems and make recommendations for action.
