Speaker Calls on Negotiators to Safeguard Iran’s N. Rights in Final Deal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian parliament speaker said there are some challenges in the way of nuclear talks between Tehran and the six world powers, but at the same time insisted that the country’s negotiators should uphold the nation's inalienable nuclear rights with vigilance.

In a Monday meeting with senior Iranian cleric Ayatollah Safi Golpaygani in the central city of Qom on Sunday, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani provided a general description of the latest developments in the nuclear talks between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany).

“There are, however, challenges in this way, and efforts should be made to reach a right solution,” Larijani explained.

Also in a separate meeting with another prominent cleric, Ayatollah Mousavi Ardebili, the parliament speaker made clear that the nuclear negotiations are advancing in an “acceptable trend.”

Larijani further reiterated the need for protection of the Islamic Republic’s inalienable rights in the course of nuclear talks, and added, “The (Iranian) negotiating team must preserve the nuclear rights in the final step with prudence and hard work.”

Iran and the group of six world powers have in November last year signed an interim deal on Tehran’s nuclear case, which stipulates that over the course of six months, the parties will draw up a comprehensive nuclear deal which will lead to a lifting of the whole sanctions on Iran.
