Military Official Lauds Iran's Ability to Increase Ballestic Missiles' Precision

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian experts have been able to increase the precision capability of the ballistic missiles to an unbelievable degree, a senior Iranian commander said.

Addressing a scientific festival here in Tehran on Monday, Deputy Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces for Logistics and Industrial Research Brigadier General Mohammad Hejazi said the country has made great headways in increasing the accuracy of the ballistic missiles.

Some military experts had found it impossible to work on the accuracy of the ballistic missiles, arguing that increased accuracy was something achievable in the Cruise missiles alone, the commander stated.

But with diligence and hard work over years, the local experts achieved such outstanding success that is certainly something to be proud of, General Hejazi noted.

His comments came after Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan announced in December 2013 that Iran has managed to produce laser-guided missiles with increased range, adding that the ballistic missiles’ margin of error in hitting their targets is now below 2 meters.

“The fixed precision of our long-range missiles has increased to the extent that we can hit every point we wish,” Dehqan said in a televised speech at the time.

In recent years, the Islamic Republic of Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and has attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to other countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.
