Syrian Crisis Engineered by Enemies of Islamic Resistance: Iranian Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said enemies of the anti-Israel Islamic resistance front are behind the crisis in Syria.

Speaking Monday in a meeting with Sheikh Hessan Abdullah, head of Lebanon’s Coalition of Muslim Scholars (CMS), Amir Abdollahian elaborated on the latest developments in the Islamic Awakening movement in the region, and stressed that the enemies of the Islamic resistance front have plotted the crisis that has gripped Syria for over three years.

Syria has been the scene of deadly violence since 2011. Western powers and their regional allies have been supporting the terrorist militants operating inside Syria.

Syria has long been a pivotal part of the axis of resistance against the Zionist regime of Israel.

Amir Abdollahian further commended the role of the Coalition of Muslim Scholars in promoting Islamic unity and confronting extremism.

He also underlined the role of Muslim scholars in enlightening and raising the awareness of Islamic communities.

Sheikh Hassan Abdullah, too, said the tragic situation in Syria is the result of plots hatched by the West and Zionism against the resistance front and stressed the need for Islamic solidarity (against these plots).
