Iran Hammers China in AFC Futsal Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran pummeled China in the 2014 AFC Futsal Championship on Friday.

The Iranian futsal team, who defeated Indonesia 5-0 in Group B on Wednesday, beat China 12-0 at the Ton Duc Thang University Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh (three goals), Hossein Tayebi (three goals), Vahid Shafiei (three goals), Mohammad Shajari, Farhad Fakhim and Hamid Ahmadi scored for Iran.

Australia defeated Indonesia 5-0 in another match of the group.

Iran will play Australia on Sunday.

Iran stays top of group on goal difference with six points. Australia has six points and China and Indonesia are third and fourth respectively without any points.

A total of 16 countries, divided into four groups of four teams in the tournament.

The AFC Futsal Championship is the main national futsal competition of the Asian Football Confederation nations. It was first held in 1999 and has been played annually. Iran has been dominant, winning 10 out of the 12 editions of the competition played so far, and finishing 3rd in two others.
