TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed the country’s preparedness to supply the African nation of Ghana with technical and scientific expertise in various fields.

Tehran is ready to transfer its useful experience in various technical and engineering, scientific, agricultural, and health fields to Accra, Zarif said in a meeting with Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, the Ghanaian Minister of State at the Presidency, here in Tehran on Tuesday.

Heading a high-ranking delegation from the African country, the Ghanaian minister has travelled to Tehran to participate in the 5th Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Ghana.

Elsewhere in the meeting, Zarif underlined that the expansion and deepening of relations with the African countries, including Ghana, is a top priority on Iran’s foreign policy agenda.

The Iranian top diplomat also highlighted the good political relations between Tehran and Accra both in the bilateral and international arenas.

Zarif also expressed the hope that reciprocal visits by the two countries’ senior officials would expand the ties in the entire fields of mutual interest.

Pelpuo, for his part, expressed satisfaction with his visit to Tehran, and conveyed the Ghanaian foreign minister’s greetings to Zarif.

“The high-ranking Ghanaian officials are determined to expand and deepen comprehensive relations with Iran and there is a strong political will to do so in Accra,” he noted.

The visiting Ghanaian further voiced his country’s interest in using the experience and the advanced technical and engineering expertise Iran can offer to Ghana in the scientific, academic, industrial, agricultural and health fields.

The fifth Iran-Ghana Joint Commission kicked off in Tehran on Tuesday, a day after the commission’s experts discussed the plans for the expansion of Tehran-Accra ties.
