Iran Willing to Invest in Ghana: Larijani

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani highlighted Tehran’s willingness to invest in the African country of Ghana.

“Iran has diverse potentials and capabilities in different industrial areas, oil and gas, petrochemicals and new technologies and is prepared to invest in these fields in Ghana,” Larijani said Saturday in a meeting with Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, Ghana’s Minister of State for Public-Private Partnerships.

He underlined the need for employing all the available potential and capacities for upgrading the level of economic ties between the two countries.

Larijani also stated that since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Tehran has attached special importance to relations with countries in the African continent, including Ghana.

The Ghanaian minister, for his part, described the Islamic Republic of Iran as an important and influential country in the Middle East and in the world, and said Accra is keen to develop its relations with Tehran in all areas.

He noted that on its path towards growth and sustainable development, Ghana has many needs in areas like oil, gas, electricity, etc, which can be met by using Iran’s capacities.

Pelpuo also called for contribution of Iran’s government and private sectors to the development of economic infrastructures in Ghana.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, the Ghanaian minister has travelled to Tehran to participate in the 5th Joint Economic Commission of Iran and Ghana.

The fifth meeting of Iran-Ghana Joint Commission was held in Tehran on Tuesday, a day after the commission’s experts discussed the plans for the expansion of Tehran-Accra ties.
