Mirwaiz Appeals Iran to Help Settle Kashmir Dispute

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, appealed to Iran to help in resolving the Kashmir dispute.

The APHC Chairman was addressing a seminar in Srinagar held in connection with the  anniversary of founder of Islamic revolution of Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini.

“I appeal the Iranian government to use its good offices for the final settlement of Kashmir issue,” he said.

The Mirwaiz said that besides playing an effective role in the economic affairs of India and Pakistan, Iran should more focus on the Kashmir’s political problem, as Kashmir and Iran share age-old cultural and traditional relations.

“For this strong relation Kashmir is also described as Iran-e-Sagheer,” he added.

The APHC Chairman showed concern over the sectarian divisions within the Islamic countries, Kashmir Media Service reported.

He also called upon the government of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Syria, Turkey, Iran and other Muslim nations to come together to face the challenges of Islamic world.

In his speech, Iranian Ambassador to India, Dr Ghulam Raza Ansari, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that Iran always wanted strong relations between Pakistan and India.

“Kashmir is our Iran-e-Sagheer, so we want people of this place live with dignity. We always stressed for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute. Iran in the past has taken various initiatives to bring India and Pakistan closer to each other,” he added.
