Algeria Parliamentary Delegation to visit Iran at Weekend

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A parliamentary delegation from Algeria plans to visit Iran this weekend, an adviser to Iran's parliament speaker on the international affairs announced on Tuesday.

The seven-member Algerian parliamentary delegation is scheduled to arrive in the Iranian capital city of Tehran on June 14, Hossein Sheikholeslam said.

"This visit will come at the invitation of head of Iran-Algeria Parliamentary Friendship Group Gholamreza Mesbahi Moghadam," he added.

Sheikholeslam said the group was scheduled to meet Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and the Chairman of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi.

He added that the Algerian delegation would also make a trip to the historic city of Isfahan.

in 2000, diplomatic relations between the two sides were re-established by Algeria’s Abdelaziz Bouteflika and Iran’s then president Mohammad Khatami, after they were cut for nearly a decade.

In early August, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the Islamic Republic is completely ready to expand and deepen mutual relations with Algeria in economic, cultural and political fields.
