The Afghan official added that most of attacks targeted polling stations. There have been no immediate reports of possible casualties or damage.

Based on a report by Tolu News Agency, Davudzi has expressed the hope that the country’s security forces will be able to protect the people against violence.

On Saturday, Afghan voters began going to the polling stations around the country to choose between former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah and economist Ashraf Ghani. Outgoing Afghan President Hamid Karzai also cast his ballot.
