Germany Sinks Portugal 4-0 in World Cup


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Germany crushed Portugal 4-0 in Group G of the 2014 World Cup at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador, thanks to a hat trick from Thomas Muller.

Bayern Munich striker Mueller, who scored five goals at the 2010 World Cup, found the back of the net from the penalty spot after 12 minutes.

Central defender Mats Hummels scored Germany's second goal with a header in the 32nd minute.

Portugal defender Pepe was red carded in the 37th minute for head-butting Mueller when the German player was sitting on the ground.

Muller extended the lead just before the half time.

Muller -Man of the Match- scored Germany’s fourth goal in the 78th minute and completed the first hat trick of the tournament.
