Indonesia Keen to Develop Cooperation with Iran’s Central Province
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Indonesian Ambassador to Tehran Dian Wirengjurit called for the promotion of cooperation with the Iranian central province of Markazi given the province's remarkable industrial infrastructure.
Iran’s province of Markazi with its industrial infrastructure and variety of products has great potential for strengthening economic relations with industrialized provinces of Indonesia such as Bandung and Surabaya, the Indonesian Ambassador said during his visit to the city of Arak in Markazi Province on Wednesday.
“The capacities of Markazi province, especially in industry, is outstanding for strengthening bilateral relations,” he added.
He went on to say that interaction and cooperation between the two countries can lead to economic growth and prosperity for both sides.
The Indonesian diplomat also emphasized that the purpose of the visit to the province is to get information about its industrial, agricultural, cultural and tourist areas.
Iran-Indonesia trade reached $1.132 billion in 2012, with Iran's share of exports to Indonesia standing at $597 million. Iran imported liquefied propane, urea, gas turbines, bitumen, lead, and tea to Indonesia, while imported paper, home appliances, coal, and drilling equipment.
