Netherlands Edges Australia in Group B

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Netherlands football team defeated Australia 3-2 in Group B of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

In the match held at the Estadio Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre, Brazil on Wednesday, Arjen Robben scored for Oranje after 20 minutes. Bayern Munich attacking midfielder won the ball in midfield and sprinting into space to finish a left-footed shot past Australian goalkeeper Maty Ryan.

After just one minute, Tim Cahil equalized the match with a superb goal.

In the 54th minute, Algerian referee Djamel Haimoudi showed Netherland’s penalty spot following a handball and Mile Jedinak found the back of the net.

The Dutch answered back four minutes later, with Robin van Persie beating the offside trap and firing into the roof of the net.

In the 68th minute, Memphis Depay scored the winner with a low 25-yard shot.

This win brings Netherland one step closer to making another deep run into the World Cup. Next up for the Netherlands will be Chile and Australia will take on Spain.
