Japan Held by 10-Man Greece in World Cup Group C

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Japan and Greece national football teams played out a goalless draw at the Arena das Dunas in Group C of the 2014 World Cup on Friday.

Greece skipper Kostas Katsouranis was sent off in the 38th minute after receiving his second yellow card.

Afterward, the Japanese team was dominant and created several chances but could never find the back of the net.

The result sent group rival Colombia into the last 16 of the World Cup

Keisuke Honda of Japan gained Man of the Match award at the end.

"We tried to attack. We had to play our match. We couldn’t settle for a draw. This is not a positive result. We absolutely needed to win," said Japan coach Alberto Zaccheroni, whose side opened their campaign with a 2-1 loss to Ivory Coast.
