Carlos Queiroz Confirms Iran Departure

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian national football team coach Carlos Queiroz will leave Iran after the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Queiroz, who guided Iran to the World Cup, will likely join South Africa football team for a second stint.

Iran opened its World Cup Group F campaign with a 0-0 draw against African representative Nigeria.

The team will play favorite Argentina at the Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte on Saturday.

"Yes my connection will finish here at the World Cup," Queiroz told Portuguese publication Publico.

"There was not support from the government - there has stopped being a genuine interest because of the financial situation."

The 61-year-old coach has been Iran coach since 2011, but will not lead Team Melli at the 2015 Asian Cup in Australia.
