Iran Is Strong, Poland Not Weakened, Coach Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national volleyball team coach Slobodan Kovac praised his team’s performance against Poland in the 2014 FIVB World League.

The Iranian volleyball team defeated Poland in straight sets (25-22, 25-20, 25-22) at the Azadi Hall in Tehran on Sunday. The victory put Iran level with Pool A leader Italy with 19 points and ensured them the group second place.

“We will have to defeat Poland in our remaining two matches. It’s important for us to finish the group stage competition as the first team,” Kovac said in the post match news conference.

“Iran played well and defeated Poland. Don’t say Poland has been weakened. Why you didn’t say it when Poland beat Brazil 3-0? I believe that this is disrespectful to me and my players,” the Serbian coach added.

“Iran players did well against Poland. In my opinion, Poland was very well and they were especially very strong in the service,” Kovac said.
