Russia Wants No Curbs on Iran Nuclear Activities after Final Deal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Russia’s deputy foreign minister said on Monday after the normalization of Iran’s atomic energy program, no restrictions should be imposed on the country’s nuclear activities.

Sergei Ryabkov’s remark came during his meeting with Iran’s ambassador to Moscow Mahdi Khazaei ahead of the sixth round of Vienna nuclear negotiations between Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany, Itar-Tass reported.

Earlier, Ryabkov had called for a timetable based on which all the restrictions on Iran’s nuclear energy program will be lifted.

Iran and the Group 5+1 are scheduled to hold a fresh round of high-profile talks in the Austrian capital of Vienna on July 2 with the aim of drafting a comprehensive deal to resolve the decade-long standoff over Tehran's peaceful nuclear energy program.

Back in November 2013, the Geneva interim agreement -officially titled the Joint Plan of Action- was signed between Iran and the sextet, based on which Iran the world powers agreed to suspend some non-essential sanctions and to impose no new nuclear-related bans in return for Tehran's decision to suspend its 20% enrichment for a period of six months.
