ISIL Seizes Syria’s Abu Kamal after Heavy Fighting against Al-Nusra Front

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Terrorists of the so-called 'Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL) seized control over Abu Kamal city in the province of Deir Ezzor, near the borders with Iraq, media reports said on Wednesday.

The ISIL controls now large parts of Abu Kamal city, following violent clashes with opposition battalions and the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Nusra Front terrorist group, calling itself 'al-Qaeda in the Levant'.

Scores of Al-Nusra militants killed in the clashes, including two military commanders of the armed groups, Al-Manar reported.

Sources in Abu Kamal said that the ISIL seized full control over the city, citing the stop of clashes at Tuesday dawn.

"The ISIL also took over the village of Kassar located in the north of the Shaheel town, the stronghold of Al-Nusra Front in Syria," the sources added.

Al-Manar also reported that the ISIL terrorists started a large-scale operation in search for wanted militiamen of Al-Nusra Front.
