7 Afghans Killed in US Airstrike

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - At least seven people were killed in a US airstrike in eastern Afghanistan.

The attack, which took place in Logar Province, also injured three people.

Local officials said the victims were Taliban militants and a Taliban commander was among them. The militant group has not yet commented on the attack.

US-led forces have recently expanded their aerial attacks across Afghanistan. Most of such attacks are carried out by US forces, Press TV reported.

The United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan in 2001 as part of the so-called war on terror. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity remains across the country.

The US-led war in Afghanistan, which has caused record-high civilian and military casualties, has become the longest military conflict in the American history.

The US has also carried out numerous drone attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan in recent years. While Washington claims that the aerial strikes target militants, many of the targets have later turned out to be civilians, according to witnesses.
