Nasrallah: Lifting Gaza Siege Real Cause for Resistance

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Secretary General of the Lebanese Hezbollah Movement Seyed Hassan Nasrallah said Palestinian Resistance is not trying to clinch a psychological victory but is after a real achievement that is lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip.

Nasrallah referred to lifting the siege on the coastal enclave as “a tough issue” but added that it could be a strong point for the Resistance, reported the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar on Thursday.

“Lifting the siege on Gaza is firstly the demand of all Palestinian groups and secondly there is a real popular will in lifting the siege,” said Nasrallah.

The Hezbollah chief said the Gaza war course was neither predictable nor surprising, adding that it was Israel that started the war.

Nasrallah further underlined that nobody had planned a war but Tel Aviv waged the onslaught and the Palestinian resistance just countered the Israeli attacks.

He also said Hezbollah forces would continue defending Lebanon-Syria borders the same way they protected the country's southern borders against Israeli violations.

Hassan Nasrallah is supposed to deliver a speech on Friday 20:30 local time (17:30 GMT) due to be broadcast on Al-Manar TV.
