Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali said there should be operational coordination between the country’s active and passive defense to provide durable and smart defense for areas like Natanz and Fordo.
He made the remark in a press conference on Tuesday after signing a joint agreement with the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base.
“The enemies use the smart power doctrine… and we, too, should employ smart defense to counter threats,” General Jalali said.
Iran’s nuclear facilities in Natanz and Fordo have been inspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) several times.
The US and its Western allies have often accused Iran of potentially seeking non-civilian objectives under the cover of its nuclear energy program.
The Islamic Republic has categorically and repeatedly denied the allegation, saying its nuclear program is entirely peaceful and in compliance with the NPT, to which it is a signatory.
