Iran Determined to Continue Cooperation with IAEA: Spokeswoman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham on Wednesday reiterated Tehran’s firm determination to continue cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to remove concerns on the country's peaceful nuclear program.

“Cooperation between Iran and the IAEA is moving forward and the country is determined to continue cooperation with the IAEA,” Afkham told reported during her weekly press briefing in Tehran on Wednesday.

She also called on the UN nuclear agency to prevent the political affairs from leaving negative impacts on the technical and legal process of negotiations with Iran.

The Iranian foreign ministry spokeswoman also described the course of Iran-IAEA talks as well as the recent visit to Tehran by the head of the organization, Yukiya Amano, as "constructive".

On Sunday, during his second visit to Tehran in less than a year, Amano held separate meetings with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and the head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI),  Ali Akbar Salehi.

Amano and the Iranian officials explored avenues for the further expansion of cooperation between Iran and the IAEA.

Earlier, the IAEA confirmed in its latest report that Iran has complied with the interim nuclear accord clinched between Tehran and six world powers in November 2013 over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

It said the Islamic Republic has eliminated its most sensitive stockpile of enriched uranium gas under the nuclear accord.
