Iran Loses to Slovenia in Four-Team Basketball Tourney

Tehran (Tasnim) - Iran basketball team opened the Slovenian four-team tourney with a 69-77 loss to Slovenia.

The tournament is as part of Iran’s buildup to the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup to be played in Spain from Aug 30-Sept 14.

Hamed Haddadi led Iran’s scoring with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists.

Hamed Afagh added 14 points.

Memi Becirovic’s team will play Lithuania and Brazil as well.

Iran has been drawn alongside host and World No 2 team Spain, 2013 Eurobasket winners France, Egypt, Serbia and Brazil in Group A of the FIBA World Cup, which will be played at Granada.

Iran will start their campaign with a game against Spain on Aug 30.
