Data May Be Retrieved from Israeli Drone Wreckage: Iran’s DM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s minister of defense said the task to recover the remaining parts of an Israeli spy drone shot down in Iran’s airspace might reveal data from recorders of the aircraft.

Speaking at a television talk show on Sunday night, Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said the remaining components of the Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) will be analyzed by the country’s military experts.

He explained that data from the drone’s computer and recorders could be retreived following the investigation.

Earlier in the day, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced it had tracked and shot down a radar-evading stealth Israeli drone which was intending to penetrate the airspace over Natanz nuclear zone.

The intruding drone was intercepted by a surface-to-air missile, it said.

Brigadier General Dehqan also noted that the targeted aircraft was a “guided drone” belonging to Israel.

“Iran has always announced that any aggression by any alien, at any time and conditions, will receive a crushing response,” the minister reiterated.

In earlier remarks, Head of the IRGC Public Relations Department General Ramezan Sharif had announced that some components of the Israeli spy drone have remained undamaged and that experts were trying to retrieve data from them.
