Esteghlal Stays Top of Iran Professional League
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Esteghlal football team preserved its lead in the Iranian Professional League (IPL) by beating Gostaresh 3-0 on Friday.
The Blues had taken the lead in the 39th minute when Arash Borhani found the back of the net into penalty box.
Esteghlal summer signing Omid Ebrahimi extended the lead on the stroke of half-time from penalty spot.
With two minutes left, Mohammad Ghazi collected the ball on the edge of the box and opened the goal with a left- footed shot to the bottom right corner.
Elsewhere, Tractor Sazi beat newly-promoted Naft Masjed Soleymani 3-0, Zob Ahan drew Sepahan 1-1 in Isfahan derby, Foolad was held to a 0-0 draw by Saipa and Naft played out a goalless draw against Paykan.
Esteghlal stays atop of IPL table with 15 points, followed by Tractor Sazi with 13 points, Sepahan (11) and Foolad (11).
