TEHRAN (Tasnim) – One of Iran’s main achievements in the foreign policy arena over the past year has been its success to persuade the international community to concede Tehran’s nuclear progress, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said.

In a radio interview on Saturday, Zarif said Iran’s Foreign Ministry has been able to change the international attitude towards the Islamic Republic since summer 2013.

“We drew the international attention to the Islamic Republic of Iran and its achievements in the technology sphere, and could make the world accept the realities regarding Iran’s breakthroughs in the nuclear field,” noted the minister.

The top diplomat stressed that now discussions on Iran’s nuclear case no more revolve around its continuation in nature, but talks are focused on its developing dimensions.

Another major task the Foreign Ministry has managed to perform was to slow the growing trend of Iranophobia and Islamophobia, he added.

In relevant comments on Wednesday, President Hassan Rouhani underlined that the wall of “Iranophobia” has been brought down in the world’s public opinion in the wake of his administration’s foreign policy approaches.

He said Tehran’s new foreign policy agenda has not only helped lessen Iranophobia in the world, but also has contributed to the removal of “cruel sanctions” imposed on the country.

“Steps have been taken in the field of reduction and removal of sanctions, and much more steps are also ahead of the government,” Rouhani told the Supreme Leader.

Iran and the group of six world powers (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are in talks to reach a final agreement over Tehran’s nuclear energy program and the removal of unjustified sanctions against Iran.

The two sides are supposed to hold meetings in New York in September.
