Iran Resolved to Assert Nuclear Rights in Talks: FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian foreign minister voiced the country’s determination to assert its nuclear rights in the course of talks with six world powers.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to conduct negotiations, assert the Iranian nation’s nuclear rights and end the illegitimate and illegal sanctions (imposed on Tehran),” Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a meeting with Belgium's Parliament Speaker Patrick Dewael, in Brussels on Monday.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are in talks to reach a final agreement over Tehran’s nuclear energy program and the removal of unjustified sanctions against Iran.

Elsewhere in the meeting with the Belgian speaker, Zarif welcomed the idea of expansion of relations between parliaments of Iran and Belgium.

Dewael, for his part, said reciprocal parliamentary visits would provide good opportunities for promoting dialogue between the two countries.

The top Iranian diplomat arrived in Belgium on Monday as part of a three-leg tour of Europe which will take him to Italy and Luxemburg as well.

He has also discussed Iran’s peaceful nuclear program with outgoing European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton and outgoing European Council President Herman Van Rompuy.
