Muslim Clerics to Attend Pro-Palestine Conference in Tehran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An international conference in support of Palestine’s anti-Israeli resistance movement will bring clerics from the whole Islamic world together in the Iranian capital, Tehran, within the next few days.

The forthcoming conference will be held on September 9 and 10, with some 400 participants expected to discuss the Palestinian people’s resistance against Israel.

200 Muslim clerics from different countries along with 200 Iranian pundits are scheduled to attend the conference.

The Union of Resistance Clerics will be also established on the sidelines of the conference.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Chairman of Iran’s Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani are planned to deliver speeches at the opening of the conference.

In recent years, the concept of resistance has attracted a great deal of attention across the Muslim world.

It refers mainly to the courage and fortitude shown by the people of Palestine, who have withstood Israel’s crimes for years.

In a stark reminder of the Tel Aviv regime’s brutalities, more than 2,000 Palestinians, most of them civilians including more than 490 children, were killed in the Gaza Strip after Israel launched an offensive on the coastal enclave of 1.8 million population on July 8.

Thousands of homes in the Gaza Strip have been destroyed or damaged by the Israeli offensive.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights said 540,000 people had been displaced in the Gaza Strip.
