Wrestler Abdevali Hurt by Unjust Exit from Asian Games


TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Refereeing decisions went against Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Saeid Abdevali in the 2014 Asian Games underway in Incheon, South Korea on Tuesday.

Abdevali defeated Jihyun Jung from South Korea in the men's Greco-Roman 71 kg Semi-final and referee Ashida Takaharu lifted his hand as a winner; however the Korean officials protested the result and Jung unbelievingly was named as the winner.

Abdevali will have to challenge for the bronze medal but he is doubt for the match with an injured finger.

Some 9,500 athletes from 45 countries are competing at the Games, the world's second-biggest multi-sport event after the summer Olympics, with 439 gold medals in 36 sports up for grabs.

Iran has participated in the games with 276 athletes in 22 sports.
