Iran Basketball Team Defeats Kazakhstan in Asiad

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian national basketball team advanced to the final match after defeating Kazakhstan 80-78 on Wednesday in the 17th Asian Games underway in Incheon, South Korea.

Samad Nikkhah Bahrami, who led Iran with 27 points, said Iran played very bad against Kazakhstan.

“We trained hard for the games in the past four months. I am not happy with the way we played. If we want to win the gold, we have to change our method,” Iran captain said.

Some 9,500 athletes from 45 countries are competing at the Games, the world's second-biggest multi-sport event after the summer Olympics, with 439 gold medals in 36 sports up for grabs.

Iran has participated in the games with 276 athletes in 22 sports.
