Iran’s Gomari Bags Bronze in Canoe Kayak Obstacle Slalom

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s Sonia Gomari won a bronze medal in the Canoe Kayak Obstacle Slalom on Thursday in the 2014 Asian Games underway in Incheon, South Korea.

In rainy conditions, she defeated her rival from Thailand at the Hanam Misari Canoe/Kayak Center.

Gomari claimed the bronze medal, clocking 1:27.36 minutes, while Saranya Pornchai took 1:28.78 minutes.

Some 9,500 athletes from 45 countries are competing at the Games, the world's second-biggest multi-sport event after the summer Olympics, with 439 gold medals in 36 sports up for grabs.

Iran has participated in the games with 276 athletes in 22 sports.
