Israeli Settlers Raid Palestinian Village Northern West Bank

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Israeli settlers raided a Palestinian village in the northern occupied West Bank, burning olive trees and damaging property.

Dozens of Israelis from the nearby settlement of Kfar Tappuah raided an area in the village of Yasuf.

Witnesses said Israeli soldiers stood by and watched while the Palestinian property was being damaged.

One day earlier, Israeli settlers attacked dozens of Palestinian farmers and attempted to steal their olive crops in a village south of the city of Nablus.

Local Palestinian officials have recommended that Palestinians work in groups if their farms are close to Israeli settlements, Press TV reported.

Israeli settler attacks increase during the olive harvest season. The attacks, which target the farmers’ main source of income, pave the way for the confiscation of Palestinian farmland for Israel’s illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Israel has reportedly uprooted more than 800,000 olive trees in the occupied Palestinian territories since 1967.

The Israeli settlements, built since the occupation of the West Bank including East al-Quds in 1967, are considered to be illegal by the United Nations and most countries because the territories were captured by the 1967 Israeli war and are thus subject to the Geneva Conventions, which forbid construction on occupied lands.
