Iraqi Spokesman Denies Clashes near Baghdad Airport
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A spokesman for Iraq’s Interior Ministry on Tuesday rejected as a “lie by the biased media outlets” the reports that clashes have taken place between the Iraqi forces and armed assailants near the Baghdad airport. ferse
“There has been no report of clashes between the Iraqi security forces and the ISIL terrorists near Baghdad airport, and the terrorist are tens of kilometers far away from Baghdad,” Interior Ministry Spokesman Brigadier General Saad Maan told the Tasnim News Agency on Tuesday.
His comments came after some media outlets reported heavy clashes between the Iraqi forces and militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group around Baghdad’s airport.
In reply, Maan said, “Those media outlets are wrong if they think entering Baghdad is that easy or they could damage the Iraqi military forces’ morale with a report.”
