Heading a diplomatic delegation, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Asian and Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour held a meeting with a number of Belarusian officials in Minsk on Monday.

In a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makey, the Iranian official voiced satisfaction with the current status of Tehran-Minsk relations in the political, economic and cultural fields.

Makey, for his part, said Belarus attaches great significance to its ties with Iran, and called for a boost to the economic cooperation between the two nations.

Iran and Belarus have developed good relations in recent years, particularly in the economic and trade sectors and have signed a number of agreements to shore up bilateral cooperation.

In 2010, Iran inaugurated a large copper wire factory and the second phase of Samand car assembly line in Belarus.
