Condemning Monday's tragic incident in Nigeria's northeastern town of Potiskum as an “inhuman move”, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham called for the identification and punishment of those behind the terrorist move.
The spokeswoamn further called for measure to ensure security of the religious ceremonies.
Afkham also reiterated the necessity to counter extremism and terrorism all over the world, and emphasized the need for the world Muslims to remain vigilant and maintain unity.
On Monday, a suicide bomber detonated himself in the Tsohuwar Kasuwa area of the Nigerian town after joining worshippers who were marching to mark Ashura, a solemn day when Shiites mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hossein, a grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), in 680 AD at Karbala in modern-day Iraq.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but suspicion is bound to fall on the Boko Haram terrorist group.
