Tasnim Chief Stresses Need for Islamic Media Outlets

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Tasnim News Agency Managing Director Majid Qolizadeh emphasized the necessity for the establishment of media outlets with an Islamic orientation in a bid to fight the “media soft war” waged by the enemies that seek to institutionalize “non-Islamic values” in the Muslim societies.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of Tasnim’s “Afghanistan, Pakistan and subcontinent” regional office in Iran’s northeastern holy city of Mashhad on Sunday, Qolizadeh referred to the Islamic media as the “missing link in the chain” of a creating a worldwide Islamic establishment.

He also debunked the hostile plots hatched by the “Western liberal democrat” political leaders that have employed media as a tool to disrupt the Muslim unity and to weaken Islam, describing it as an “inherent, humanitarian and religious duty” to contribute to the unity of Muslim nations.

“Today, we are facing the enemies whose purpose is not serving the Muslim people of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other Islamic countries, but in fact, their objective is to institutionalize non-Islamic values,” the Tasnim chief added.

As regards the main functions of Tasnim’s new office, Qolizadeh said it, along with the other Islamic media outlets in Afghanistan and Pakistan, seeks to pursue the “Islamic line and true independence” in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In relevant comments in late October, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei described the unity among the Muslim nations as Iran’s "official policy," warning that the enemies of the Islamic Ummah plot to create a rift between Iran and the Islamic world.

“Unity and fraternity among the Muslims is one of our religious principles and the Islamic Republic has been straightforward in this regard,” the Leader announced.

The Supreme Leader, however, explained that Islamic unity does not require different Islamic sects to change their religious beliefs, but “it means that Muslims should avoid hostility and support each other in the face of major international issues.
