Leader Has Determined Defense Roadmap, Iran’s Army Commander Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Army Commander underlined that the Commander in Chief (Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution) Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has clearly defined the roadmap for defending the country.

“The Commander in Chief’s statements made prior to the final round of nuclear talks (between Iran and world powers) are the roadmap for the Islamic Republic of Iran in the area of defense and confronting the enemies,” Major General Ataollah Salehi said on Sunday.

Ayatollah Khamenei in September said the 8-year Sacred Defense (Iraqi imposed war on Iran in the 1980s) was a testimony that, despite all limitations and pressures and lack of financial credits and numerous other problems, it is possible to stand against bullying with grim determination and faith in God.

General Salehi further referred to the enmity of world powers with the Islamic Republic, and said Iran’s Armed Forces have mightily carried out their mission of defending the country’s air, land and sea borders “and that is what has enraged the enemies of this sacred establishment”.

The senior commander went on to say that Iran’s adversaries try to harm the Islamic country by undermining regional security and giving rise to terrorist groups like the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

The ISIL terrorists control large areas of Syria. The group first sent its militants into Iraq in June, seizing large parts of land along the border between the two countries.

They have been carrying out horrific acts of violence, including public decapitations and crucifixions, against Iraqi communities such as Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.
