Sadeghzadeh Wins Iran’s Fourth Gold in Asian Beach Games

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian wrestler Jaber Sadeghzadeh claimed a gold medal in the 2014 Asian Beach Games on Monday.

In the games underway in Phuket, Thailand, Sadeghzadeh defeated Bekbolsun Kushubakov from Kyrgyzstan 2-0 in the final match of the Men's Freestyle +80kg.

Sadeghzadeh had defeated Soungjin Go from South Korea, Kazakhstan’s Yraly Abdrashev, Phonexay Phachanxay from Laos and Pakistani Muhammad Inam in this weight category.

Mohammad Naderi in the Men's Freestyle -70, Kamran Hosseini Jam in the Men's Freestyle -80kg and Ghanbar Ghanbari in the Men’s -66kg in the kurash competition have previously won three gold medals in the Asian Beach Games. 

The Iranian athletes are competing in 17 out of 26 sports in the event.

About 3,500 athletes and officers from 45 countries in Asia are participating in the games.

The first Asian Beach Games was held in Indonesia in 2008.

Vietnam will host the fifth edition in Khanh Hoa Province and Da Nang City in 2016.
