Israeli Gunfire Kills Palestinian in Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - A 32-year-old Palestinian resident of eastern Jabalia town in northern Gaza Strip was shot dead by Israeli border troops on Sunday, medics said.

A Gaza Health Ministry spokesman said that Fadel Halawa, 32, from Jabalia was shot dead by Israeli troops' gunfire east of the town, not far from the border fence with Israel.

Israel opened a buffer zone at the borders with the Gaza Strip, where soldiers usually open fire at any Palestinian who approaches the borders area.

It's the first killing of a Palestinian in the Gaza Strip since the end of a 50-day Israeli large-scale offensive on the enclave that ended in Aug. 26, in which more than 2,150 Palestinians were killed and more than 11,000 wounded, Xinhua reported.
