Afghan Police Kill 53 Militants in 24 Hours
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Afghan police backed by the army killed 53 Taliban militants in a series of operations across the country over the past 24 hours, the Interior Ministry said in a statement released here on Thursday.
During the operations which have been conducted in Nangarhar, Wardak, Uruzgan, Logar and Khost provinces, 12 more militants were injured and 11 others arrested.
The troops have also seized a number of arms and ammunition including 28 landmines during the operations, the statement added.
However, the statement did not say if there were any casualties on the security personnel.
Taliban militants fighting the government have not commented on the issue, Xinhua reported.
