Iran, Pakistani Parliaments Sign MoU

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq signed an agreement for cooperation between the two parliaments.

The memorandum of understanding was signed on Thursday during Larijani’s official visit to Islamabad.

The agreement, which has 13 articles, underscores boosting inter-parliamentary relations between Iran and Pakistan as well as cooperation in international arenas.

It also calls for the expansion of security cooperation between the two countries with the aim of establishing sustained stability in the region.

Confronting attempts to foment discord among Islamic schools of thought and working to enhance Muslim unity are among other issues stressed in the memorandum of understanding.

Larijani arrived in Islamabad for a two-day visit on Thursday.

He will meet with several other senior Pakistani officials including President Mamnoon Hussain and Senate Chairman Hussain Bukhari.
